Description
The Villa Santo Domingo hotel is an accommodation in the Sierra Maestra designed for hikers, nature lovers and independent travelers who want to discover the history and culture of Cuba; It is also close to where the rebel troops established their mountain command in the late 1950s, near the Yara River.
This Villa opened its doors in 2012 and its facilities have a beautiful wooden structure as well as a restaurant, bar, grill, garden and comfortable loungers. It is an accommodation completely integrated into its natural environment that offers its guests 20 wooden bungalows distributed in 2-story blocks, all with great views.
Among the hotel's program of activities, guests can take a horseback ride exploring the historical and natural sites of the area to finally reach the popular Guateque (typical rural festival). During the stay, the daily chores of the locals and their traditions are known.
Visitors will also have the opportunity to take a guided hike and climb Pico Turquino (1,974 meters above sea level), the highest point in Cuba. To the south is the Comandancia de La Plata (National Monument), from where the rebels organized the fight against Fulgencio Batista's army in the late 1950s.
